A sketch of the alleged abductor of Madeleine McCann has been released.

Artist's impression of a possible suspect in the Madeleine McCann case

"He took Maddie," states the Sun, next to a sketch of a man with dark hair carrying a sleeping child in pink pyjamas. The paper describes him as "swarthy".

The sketch is based on an eyewitness account from a friend of the McCanns, Jane Tanner, who has said she saw the man striding away from the direction of the McCann's holiday flat in Praia da Luz 45 minutes before their daughter was discovered missing.

The Mirror says the sketch shows the suspect to be "slim and of southern European or Mediterranean origin. He has unkempt, jet black hair plastered back across his head and the slight hint of a beard around his chin."
